The end of day 1

10.30pm and the children are settling down and will hopefully be asleep as soon as possible!  We have all had a great day today despite a slightly troubled start.

As you know, we left at 11am this morning and headed for Lymington  instead of Portsmouth, aiming for a 3pm ferry.  We ate our lunch on the coach and had a traffic free (and more importantly, a travel sickness free) journey, arriving early and driving straight on to an earlier ferry! We all sat on deck and enjoyed the glorious sunshine.
How lovely for the children, some of them travelling on a ferry for the very first time!

We arrived at Kingswood just before 4pm and carried our bags to our super accommodation and the excitement of finding out who was sharing with who (everyone happy!)  Making beds was slightly more stressful and would have been a great photo opportunity if things were not so hectic!

Straight to our first activities at 5pm ~ Abseiling, Climbing, Team Challenge and Balance Beam - great bravery and support for others.

6.30pm and we were off to dinner (at last!)  Beef Madras , rice, naan, onion bhaji, pasta, potatoes, salad, jam doughnuts (well that's what I had, I'm not sure about the children!)

Back to our rooms for a fire drill and then off to a real (camp)fire with songs, dancing, terrible jokes and toasted marshmallows (yum).  Loads of fun and laughter and then off for hot chocolate before bed.  Excitement galore - what a brilliant start to our fabulous week together.  Here's to a quiet night - hope you are all surviving without us!  More news tomorrow.  Good night folks!

P.S - keep the comments coming as it's great to read them to the children when we get the chance.
